8 Ways to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth on National Dessert Day

You’re a parent  you deserve a little indulgence once and awhile. And while we all try and keep our kids away from sugar, it’s okay to indulge them, too, just this one day a year (besides Halloween, their birthday, the holidays … )

So if you and your kids are looking for an excuse to satisfy your sweet tooth (sweet teeth?), here are 8 ways to do so, up now on KidPass!

Get a Goodie Bag (or Box!) at Economy Candy

Where: Lower East Side
Best for: all (candy-eating) ages!

Can’t wait ’til Halloween to steal your child’s stash? Head down to the oldest candy store in NYC to browse the aisles, then leave with a bag (or box) of candy all of your own.

Take a Chocolate Workshop at Chocolate Works

Where: Brooklyn Heights
Best for: age 5 and up

Because making your own chocolate masterpieces is almost as good as eating them. Also, there’s a chocolate fountain.

Learn How It’s Done at Raaka Chocolate

Where: Red Hook
Best for:
age 8 and up

See how the sausage — er, chocolate — gets made. Come by for a factory tour or chocolate-making class. Both end with you eating chocolate!

Have High Tea at MarieBelle

Where: TriBeCa
Best for:
3- to 10-year-olds

What’s more fun than high tea? Nothing, that’s what. You and your little gourmand will enjoy chocolate fondue, assorted cookies, small sandwiches, and your choice of tea or hot chocolate!

Eat Gelato Pops at Popbar

Where: Greenwich Village
Best for:
all ages!

This isn’t a fancy activity: this is just stopping in for some ice pops and eating them. Gelato, sorbet, or frozen yogurt, plus customized toppings — there’s nothing not to love here.

Get a Sweet Treat at Ample Hills Creamery

Where: Astoria / Brooklyn Heights / Carroll Gardens / Hell’s Kitchen /
Park Slope / Prospect Heights
Best for: all ages

Or if you’d rather stop for ice cream, try Ample Hills Creamery. This small batch ice cream has classic flavors and some weird (but delicious) new combos.

Stop by Fferins of Brooklyn

Where: South Slope
Best for: all (candy-eating) ages!

Another spot where all you have to do is show up and indulge your sweet tooth. Fferins has a sizable collection of UK treats, nostalgic retro candies, and everything in between.

Get Soft Serve at SoftBites

Where: Koreatown
Best for: all ages

This Japanese-inspired dessert eatery is serving up the most delicious soft serve ice cream. Go get yours!

We’ve got more Food & Cooking activities up on KidPass, or if you’re looking for ways to burn off that sugar rush, tons of new ways to play. And here are all upcoming activities across the NY Metro area!
