Are you ready to dance? Not that your answer should ever be no, but this Saturday just happens to be National Dance Day, so your answer is most definitely yes! From twirling through a ballet class to learning how to breakdance, we’ve got—literally—all the ways you can find your groove this weekend!

Arabic Rhythm and Dance & Indoor Play at Broadway Babies & Kids
Friday, July 26th, 10 AM / San Carlos / Birth – 5  years old

This class is perfect for kids who love to dance and clap along! This hands-on class introduces your little musician or dancer to the rich rhythms, melodies, instruments, and movements of Middle Eastern music and dance. Beginning with simple songs using English lyrics and live Middle Eastern percussion (drum, tambourine, finger cymbals), kids learn to break up rhythmic sound.

Saturday, July 27th, 9:45 AM / Campbell / 18 months – 3 years old

This class is designed to introduce children to the magical world of dance and music. Parents participate in class alongside the toddler to help guide and support their development in a safe environment. Through the use of fun props, movement activities, and music the class helps develop listening skills, gross motor movements, musicality, and social skills.

Your little dancers will learn the basic steps of Ballroom/Latin dances with an emphasis on body awareness, timing, rhythm, and coordination.

Breakdance at Athletic Playground
Saturday, July 27th, 12:10 PM / Emeryville / 5 – 8 years old

Breakdancing not only teaches you the art of self-expression and history, but also the ability to push your body in ways you’ve never moved. Kids will learn some basic top rocking, footwork, and freezes, while exploring the movement language of free-styling by learning to develop your own unique flow.

Dance Lessons at Dance Effects 
Saturday, July 27th / Campbell / 10:15 AM, 2.5  –3 years old / 10:45 AM, 4 – 5 years old / 12:15 PM,  5 – 7 years old

The goal of these classes is to develop basic dance and motor skills through the use of fun music and props, while also encouraging creativity, expression, proper classroom behavior, and an overall love of dance. This class is a ‘combo’ class which includes ballet, tap, and jazz dance techniques.

Saturday & Sunday, July 27th & 28th, 9 AM / San Jose / 3 – 5 years old

Calling all prima ballerinas! This class will introduce your dancers to the structure and discipline of a ballet class, as well as music awareness and basic ballet terminology. Pre-Ballet emphasizes creative expression through movement to music.
