10 Ways to Celebrate the 4th in NYC

Independence Day is coming up, so let’s celebrate, NYC!

4th of July may only be one day, but we’ve got tons of ways to make a bang all week long! Sail over to Lady Liberty, hop on board an aircraft carrier, rock out to an American birthday jam, and more! 

Toddler Summer Camp at Congregation at Shearith Isreal
Thursday, July 2nd, 9:30 am / Upper West Side / 16 months – 2.8 years old

Drop in to enjoy outdoor time with small wading pools outside on their Portico “beach,” an enclosed space facing Central Park, in addition to having some fun in the beautiful Fidanque Youth Room. There’s time for play, craft projects, exercises, saying berakhot (blessings), snack, stories, music, and more.

Liberty Cruise
Daily, various times / Financial District / 4 – 12 years old

What’s more patriotic than paying a visit to Lady Liberty? Cruise the New York Harbor while getting a close look at the Statue of Liberty and the iconic Manhattan skyline right from the water. Kids under 4 ride free.

The Intrepid Air, Sea, and Space Museum
Daily, 10 am to 4 pm / Hell’s Kitchen / 5 – 12 years old

Celebrate Independence Day by learning about all the men and women that have fought for our country. Climb aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid to explore the space shuttle Enterprise, see the world’s fastest jet, visit a guided missile submarine, and more!

Show your stars and stripes at this patriotic cooking class! After enjoying a healthy snack, each kiddo will get to assemble and decorate their own Red, White, and Blue Fruit Tart (7″) to create a flag design that’s both impressive and patriotic!

Visit this fun play space to burn off some extra energy before you celebrate the 4th—OR pop in after all the partying to work off the sugar high! Their custom-made play structures are designed for curious minds and busy bodies to explore.

Celebrate America by teaching your kids how to make green spaces beautiful!
